There is only one way to make it through this hard old world and that is to transform (renew) our minds.
Romans 12:2
"Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will."
Once we let the Spirit renew our mind, we then put into practice what the Spirit teaches us.
Matthew 7: 24 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”
Our foundation is made strong and holds firm in these uncertain times by our faith in the "rock", aka, Jesus. He is the one whom we keep our eyes on as we walk on water in faith to Him. If we take our eyes off of Him, then the darkness below tries to overcome us as we sink into it.
We need to look up...not down and this old world will just fade away. Meditate on His words. Jesus went back to heaven so the Holy Spirit could come upon those that believe. The Holy Spirit is our Comforter in hard times.
It would seem to our frail minds that it would have been nice for Jesus to have never gone back to heaven and just stayed here with us, but He had more work to do. He went back to heaven to prepare a place for us. He sent His Holy Spirit so each one of us could have Him in our hearts if we only accept Him and not turn away. That way, He could be in everyone's opened heart at one time and not be limited in that human shell of a body that He once had to temporarily live in.
The world only seems like hell because we don't stay focused on Jesus, but there is a real place where satan, and his angels will be thrown into....where the beast and the false prophet will be thrown, as well as the people who have been resurrected who failed to come to God....this will be the second death for them.
Revelation 7 When the thousand years are over, Satan will be released from his prison 8 and will go out to deceive the nations in the four corners of the earth—Gog and Magog—and to gather them for battle. In number they are like the sand on the seashore. 9 They marched across the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of God’s people, the city he loves. But fire came down from heaven and devoured them. 10 And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
The scripture goes on to say:
Rev 20: 11 Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. The earth and the heavens fled from his presence, and there was no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. 13 The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what they had done. 14 Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. 15 Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.
The good news is:
Revelation 20:6
Blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him for a thousand years.
