  When there is an inflammation of the nasal cavity and the turbinates due to allergy or infection there is a nasal discharge which tends to fall back into the throat called the post nasal drip.   I actually would not attempt it during an asthma attack. If he has any sinus congestion, the pulling can trigger post nasal drip, which often exacerbates asthma attacks, as the drip gets to the lungs, it constricts the bronchial tubes. However, if he does have sinus issues, cleansing the sinuses by pulling when he is not having an acute asthma attack could help his asthma overall.   Just wanted to add that when I said it’s great for sinuses, I also meant that nagging cough from post nasal drip, not sure I made that clear in my post. My son would get a nasty cough from his post nasal drip that lingered until I started the OOO. His doctor even thought he had asthma but I think otherwise now, either way the OOO has cleared it up!   Have  you yet tried a Neti Pot for a complete sinus cleanse?  If you clean out your total sinus real good, two - three times a day for four or more days, you will have cleansed out post nasal drip if it was there.  Don’t do anything exotic, just use a plain saline solution - 1 tsp of sea salt and 1/2 tsp of soda to a cup of water (distilled preferred).  That routine cleared up years of sinus/post nasal drip for me.     4,807 hits

  I started to believe that white coating is not so directly connected with bad breath if at all. Ever since I removed all my amalgam fillings (about 4-5) last summer my white coating has drasticaly reduced. Now I have days practicaly without white coating. And still bad breath! And still when I lick my wrist my saliva stinks!   Any suggestions for if the yeast infection is in the sinuses, ears and throat? I started with a candida cleanse and now eat a healthy candida diet.   Yes. Especially because nasal congestion can cause post nasal drip (where it drips down the back of the throat) That post nasal drip can cause the tonsils to enlarge because of irritation. Is your house dusty, musty or moldy? I would suggest looking around for an air purifier that ozonates the air. There are a lot of manufactures, but I prefer *Living Air. I believe their machines are far superior.   The pain in your teeth coupled with the post nasal drip points to a sinus infection. The normal treatment is antibiotics. If you don’t want to do this, nasal irrigation with a neti-pot or squeeze bottle system will help you get the infection out. Once your infection is cured, your bad breath should go away, however if you have allergies, you might still have some slight post nasal drip.   Hi anna.88 Up until very recently I had problems breathing through my nose especially at night when the left one would be totally blocked. I also had continuous post nasal drip. I discovered I had a sinus infection and was given antibiotics and a nasal spray called Flixonase.   I don’t believe in any diet that can ”cure” bad breath, maybe body odor. Ok if you stop drinking milk and eat diary products you will probably have BETTER breath but that’s not the source of it. I think many of us suffer from post-nasal drip, candida, hormonal changes or just bacterial overgrowth (a cause by post-nasal drip for example) or any other undiscovered illness. See a professionalist and talk to him/her and try to really figure out what’s the source of it, at least I am going to do in the next two weeks.   72,814 hits

  Any advice or comments would be greatly appreciated! I have been on the mastercleanse for six days and have have been plagued constantly with post nasal drip. There is mucous streaming down my throat several times per day -- it’s so bad sometimes I can’t breathe. I’ve read that lemon and cayenne will loosen mucous but isn’t this a bit extreme?   Hi Doctor, i need help! I’ve had post nasal drip for a while now and it’s getting worse. The worst part of if is the bad bread. The mucus is not really thick but it has a very nast test and smell.   Are your symptoms ONLY these: post-nasal drip, sugar cravings, multiple digestive problems, obsessive-compulsive disorder, cracked skin on fingertips, and non-existent libido? Because post-nasal drip is mainly a sigh of allergic reaction (if you do not have tinnitus along, it might not be candida. The other symptoms you mention are rather general, except perhaps of the cracked skin on fingertips that my be caused by fungus.   Sounds to me like you may be experiencing a ”healing crisis”. You have nearly constant sinus issues it sounds like with the nasal and post-nasal drip, so you have a health issue in that area.   Hi Trapper, As you and someone else suggested that one can easily do Neti with warm water, sea salt, H2O2, Lugol’s and CS. I ust did that My post nasal drip instantly reversed itself and my nose than started watering from front as normal. By the evening the drip disappeared.   Hi Dr Lam, I just wondered in your clinical experience whether you had seen post nasal drip associated with adrenal fatigue sufferers? This was my first symptom which was present for a couple of years, although I was in a state of environmental stress at the time. My worry is that this may have partially acted as a cause, which will always be present no matter how much I attempt to boost the adrenals. Would you have any specific nutritional advise for those with nasal problems? Many thanks,   3,521 hits

  The symptoms you described such as post nasal drip, dry mouth etc I have them all aswell and my doctor said that it was due to the inflammation of my turbinates in the nasal area. 90% of the time the standard treatment which is usualy a corticosteroid and some antibiotics will work. Unfortunately it did not work for me and I’ll be taking surgical treatment called turbinectomy to fix it and hopefully solve this issue.   2,120 hits

  Hi! I have got BB and (I think) BO. I think my BB comes from Post Nasal Drip, as I always got the feeling of mucus stuck in my throat. I have had a runny nose and problem breathing through the nose at nights for about 5 years. I brush, floss, gargles with Hydrogen Peroxide and brush my tounge several times a day, but I still get that thick white stinky coating that smells sour or I don’t really know what smell it is (maybe rotten).   Actually I think you’re onto more than that ;-) But -- post nasal drip *has* to be an ”exit path” for lymph. Quick google doesn’t bring up an answer and I have to keep plugging away at work here, so can’t chase it down to validate -- but here’s what I’m thinking: * We call this fluid ”lymph” when it’s circulating in our bodies * We rename it ”mucus” ”generated by glands in the head” when it’s in our sinus cavities/throat Because we call it 2 different things we don’t recognize that they’re one & the same.
