It's not Texans

Somehow this seems to be escalating into a "lets dump all over Texans" thread. Our problems are not Texas, Texans, nor their local culture. Every state in this union is emobdied by a local people of a culture and with passions that, if any of us were to put under a microscope, could easily dredge up undesirable characteristics. If one needs to look this closely, we're all just immigrents, poachers and squatters who've nearly eliminated the natives, having banished them to some desert rocky outpost somewhere, having given them a license to sell booze and tobacco in exchange for their troubles.

We don't get too many Texans up this way in the North, but I've met plenty in my years, with a few exceptions most of them were quite polite and good hearted people.

Strangely enough, if we want to get down on a Texan, he went by the name of Edward M. House. Technically, his family was not native to Texas (nor are the bushes), they were Euro immigrents who migrated to Texas in the 1800s, his father having built the family riches through the aid of ship smuggling during the Civil War.

This sickly little man, who never held an official office, never served in any formal military, was locally and fondly known as "General", and remains as the chief founder and importer of socialism and communism to the shores of the uS. He was the pre-eminent invisible force behind the administrations of Wilson, fdr, and many of the shady acts they perpetrated, to include setting the bait to lure the uS entry into WWs 1 and 2, as well as mapping out the initial systems of illegal taxation and social security. He wrote a book about his deranged philosophy and views of how society should be operated by a relative few elitists.
