I believe it was salmonella of all things. It was a contamination I believe from the packagers or something like that. Therefore, they weren't sure of how wide spread it really was...it did make a bunch of souls very ill, however, don't know if anyone died or not. In any case, Trader Joes was among the list forced to pull the almonds off their shelves. Don't think the new harvest has happened yet since then. You may try another chain of stores or perhaps some health stores and ask if they can get some in. I'm in northern Arizona, and we're still getting raw almonds here in bulk.
