Well, I am not a professional water faster but I did two times in major way... about 6yrs ago I was diagnosed with diabetes type 2 and high blood pressure, high high cholesterol... Yes i got it ALL ^,^; I was at 235lb at 5' 7.5' inches. I started Water Fasting just to lose all of my weight and I finally lost about 85lb total off and on with water fasting. I got rid of all those symptoms by just losing all those weight.
About 3yrs ago I started eating all those wonderful junk foods and got fat again so recently I stared again water fasting.
Is there a guide page on how to do a water fast?--- not sure about this.
Anything special to eat for a week before I start a water fast?
Yes, you want to start ready for your fasting by reducing your meals 3 times a day to maybe 1 meal a day so you are starting Intermittent fasting, so your body is ready... so you don't fail from start... then you start water only fasting. I am kinda hard core so I did like 1-2 days only one meal a day and straight to water fasting.
Anything to be aware of while doing a Water Fast so I don't get in to trouble?
Yes, make sure you are not taking any type of medicines and if you do you have to talk to your doctor.
Also if you are with in BMI, which means if you are not over weight... Don't do it! your body need food so your body can start eat your body fat. I have plenty of belly fat so my body can consume energy from my belly fat.
How do you safely break a water fast?
well, on this I have different idea than other people on this posting... many people say start with orange juice and little soup like chicken broth ect. well, I just eat normal food with not going crazy your body is not stupid so start with little of amount and you can break fast pretty easy.
How long do you water fast?
I never go over 10days straight, because with me always something comes up family birthdays, party or holidays... I am not a party pooper, I am a team player so I usually eat something when those event took a place but if someone was super over weighted like me before then you can go up to 30 days, but you need to train your body... first maybe 3-5 days... then 7-10 days... then 15-20 days... then go all the way to 30 days.
If you are not super over weight, you should not go long fast
