Please Diagnose
Hello,
I would really be grateful for any of your help in diagnosing what has been inflicting me.
I'm 30. Was in very good health. Symptoms began in December 2010 with confusion and brain fog. Both wife and I had bleeding and swollen lips and gums. Stiff neck, cranial pressure, severe memory loss, slurred speech, double/dazed vision, and memory and cognitive problems appeared in late December and developed over a period of a few days. ER CT showed nothing unusual. Was told "You're fine, need a psychiatrist (it's in your head)" - Even though my wife was also experiencing similar symptoms (bleeding lips and gums, and in place of cognitive problems, severe
Depression and reduced mental acuity). Immediately afterwards, rash appeared in lower legs of both my wife and I at the same time and disappeared after a few days. Whether or not a hint to go by - in the months leading up to the event we were consuming: freshwater that we felt was contaminated, lots of raw salmon, and locally grown vegetables by individual organic local farmers.
Cognitive issues improved very slowly. In March I began to develop light seizures. Looked for every possible cause. Tried treatments for heavy metal, chemicals, etc. None helped. Metametrix found Strongyloides and another unidentified
parasite in stool PCR DNA analysis. Naturopath who ordered the test prescribed Albendazole. Began to feel better. Naturopath wouldn't prescribe more than five days.
But then she gave me Ivermectin. Took for two-three days. On second and third day, severe reactions. Felt as if there was a worm coming off my brain stem to my neck and then upwards towards my forehead. This happened within a space of hours. Was a very traumatic experience.
As I felt it moving I went to the mirror and saw this: see photo below.
Touched it. Tried to check if what I was seeing was a vein. It did not feel like a vein. My veins are much smaller than this. They are straight. They never become snaky. They never protrude beyond the skin, even with intense exercise. It felt hard and stiff when I touched it. It did not feel like a vein that beats. It felt more like a chunk of meat. Took more doses of Albendazole and Praziquantel for pets and it weakened the beast. It felt like part of this parasite, which felt very long (or its comrades) migrated towards the gut, and It also ruined my liver and made me feel very ill. So I stopped taking them. I am not sure if the drugs were making my condition worse because I became incredibly weak and unable to digest food.
Now I feel this thing has weakened but I still feel it under my cheekbone and jawbone.
First Infectious Diseases doctor wouldn't treat me because he saw a low Eosinophil count. Second Infectious Diseases doctor wouldn't treat me because he saw that the first one didn't! Both wouldn't give attention to the photo. Or to the stool PCR results. Or to my description of what I saw and felt. Or to my wife's testimony that she also experienced similar symptoms in December when it all began. Instead, they said I imagined it because the eosinophil count was low. What a sick health system we have. Doctors don't know how to diagnose so they say you are imagining your condition, absolving them of having to think too much.
Can someone please help me figure out what's inflicting me? I am at a loss. This is crazy. What does this picture look like? What types of
parasites is it likely to be? How can they be diagnosed reliably?
Could you recommend a good infectious diseases doctor who would take my case seriously?!
I also since April began noticing floaters in my eyes. They look like tiny worms. Eye doctor said they are "floaters" (This term may or may not be related to parasites) but he did not see an infection.
Thank you so much for your help.
