Thank you all for your responses. I didn’t plan to go on Atkins diet; I haven’t been eating meat for years although I ate all other junk. I believe Furhman’s diet approach makes the most sense and he is definitely on the opposite side of the meat, diary, oil-eaters spectrum.

I was wondering--if someone breaks Water Fast with low carb veggie juices (up to 15 grams per day) instead of fruit juices, would it be possible to stay in ketosis even after the fast is broken. Beside of ketosis, what are we loosing i.e. what kind of disadvantages we face if instead of having 30 day Water Fast we undertake 20 day fast followed by 20 days of restricted (a glass or two) low carb veggie juices.

I understand that juicing in general is just a restricted calories diet but it seems that a diet up to 15 grams carbs still induce a muscle sparing and a hunger free effect. I would appreciate your thoughts…
