How to take probiotics?

Hello,

I just bought several different types of probiotics from Vitacost and none of The NSI (vitacost brands) even bother to say how to take the pills. I emailed them and am awaiting a reply. I have read many people say you MUST take them on an empty stomach and have also ready many people say they only work well if you take them during or after a meal. Which is it?

I also ordered some "Garden Of Life" probiotics and the bottle says to take on an empty stomach yet I read online they are way more effective taken after a meal. Yet others say taking probiotics with food makes taking probiotics useless.

Does anyone have a definitive answer or do we just blindly spend money on them and hope for the best? I am so confused.
