This has been discussed liberally, but perhaps it bears repeating.
If I2 is utilizing liver glutathione stores (which are needed for the liver to detox toxins en route thru the liver), perhaps providing the body with foods/supplements which boost glutathione stores would lessen the oxidative stress manifestations in the body. Precursors to glutathione would be ...

Glutathione protects against mercury toxicity.
by Rudenski 19 y
More evidence that Glutathione protects against metal toxicity can be found in a Purdue study that finds the antioxidant in Glutathione protects metal-eating plants:
Some researchers believe that supplements other than oral glutathione may be more effective in raising blood levels of glutathione. For example, in one trial, blood glutathione levels rose nearly 50% in healthy people taking 500 mg of vitamin C per day for only two weeks.10 Vitamin C raises glutathione by helping the body manufacture it. In addition to vitamin C, other nutritional compounds that may, according to prelimin ...

L-Glutamine was effective for me in the tablets, two 500mg tablets three times a day. After a while I only took two tablets a day. Also important to me was to watch my diet and not eat ANYTHING that gave me gas. For a while I had to eliminate all raw food, my intestines were so bad.
Glutamine is not the same thing as glutathione. L-glutamine is an amino acid, and glutathione is an antidoxidant, but the precursors are amino acids, glycine, glutamate and cysteine. Glutamate and Glutamine are different, as well. Glutathione is a poor supplement to take orally.

Look into N-acetyl-cysteine and reduced glutathione as a supplement for your lungs as well as nebulizing CS. Also, iodine supplementation (lugols or iodoral). Because of your lung issues, you’ve probably have bromide in the lung tissues (bromide is in asthma meds) and getting iodinated and that bromide help will help your body heal itself. The Iodine supplementation forum has lots of info on iodine and bromide and detoxing.

N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine, or NAC, is an amino acid that acts as an antioxidant and is a precursor to glutathione (GSH). While glutathione can be described as the most important endogenously produced antioxidant in the human body, it is also a (tri)peptide, and the body has a tendency to cleave peptides into their individual units. In the case of glutathione, those individual amino acid units are glutamic acid, glycine and cysteine. Of these, cysteine is the most critical for GSH synthesis, and N-acetyl-l-cysteine is an excellent form of cysteine. Therefore, while there is still a school of thou ...

Did the stuff you read about glutathione say anything about taking n-acetyl cysteine as well? I’ve read stuff that says that NAC is a precursor of glutathione and if you want to boost your glutathione levels, this is the best way. Taking glutathione directly doesn’t do anything apparently, unless you inject it intravenously, which they say is very expensive. Where did you do your liver detox profile? Did you send away to Great Smokies Labs or something like that or have a doctor do it?

No, don’t worry about flushing out the glutathione. Glutathione is synthesized in the liver by enzymes from 3 amino acids. I take something called liveraid that has all three amino acids. I also take Sam E which increases glutathione levels. Also, if you take glutamine, it gets converted into Glutathione.
The deal with Glutathione is that it is the natural scrubber for the liver and if you can increase it naturally it helps to combat liver damage.
