Re: Documented miracles today!
"Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake AND thine often infirmities."
In the greek for 'little' it can also mean for a short period of time. As in drink wine for a short period of time. This really doesn't matter though, because as you said 'I don't want to interpret the bible by the experiences of people today'. Why would you focus on the experience of one man in the bible to base the belief that it's not always God's will to heal today? Timothy wasn't dying or crippled, he had stomach complaints. If you ate to much and had a stomach complaint, it would no more be excuse for believing maybe it's not God's will to heal, if I told you to take a tums, instead of me laying hands on you. You would still have the source of the problem, overeating, and succumb to stomach troubles again. Just like Timothy. He needed wine for his stomach for a time, not a new stomach from God. I don't get headaches, but if I did I wouldn't say go to a healing evangelist or even ask God to heal me. I would try and figure out with prayer and observation what is the source. If it became debilitating and in migraines, then I would trust in God for my healing and stand on his word, that by Jesus stripes I was(already done) healed. Jesus has already done it. God's just waiting on us, to fully agree with his word, minus doubt, and we will receive, just like everyone else in the Bible did. Except for those in Jesus hometown, where he could do no might work, because of THEIR unbelief. There were two times in the ministry of Jesus when people didn't get healed, once in his hometown, and once with his disciples, were not able to do it. Both times it was because of unbelief. Never was it God's fault and never did God ever say no to a person requesting healing.
Surrounding the "drink a little wine verse" is Paul telling Timothy to not partake of other men's sins and to keep himself pure. And after the verse that some men's sin's were followed by judgement. We don't know if Timothy stumbled and sinned, or not. But Jesus said sin not lest a worse thing come upon you to a few people. Who know's, but it doesn't change God's goodness in healing those that come to him in faith, or cry out to him for mercy, and fall at his feet and worship. Jesus can save people whether on earth or in heaven, and he can heal people whether on earth or in heaven.
