Re: Tremors: iron or copper deficiency?

My apologies, I didn't mean to suggest that I had sustained damage to my myelin sheath, only that additional depletion of already low copper when Mg is supplemented can result in damage to the myelin sheath.

Copper is often seen in multis in a 1 to 2 mg dosage. Selenium. chromium and molybdenum are minerals often found in mcg doses in supplements.

And yes, by typical standards, 6-8mg is considered high. Most of what I've read suggests 3mg for therapeutic supplementation. I based my decision to use the mentioned doses on information that I have read on limited studies that have supplemented copper and from information suggesting that more copper may be needed by some individuals due to excessive or prolonged depletion.

For me, my signs of depletion were seen in my skin and my temperature regulation. Basically, I was very reactive to vitamin C, magnesium, and MSM, with some reactions to zinc, mostly on my right side. Didn't take much for me to recognize that all of these nutrients have an affect on copper. I also suffered from coldness that was improved when I supplemented iron, but then returned within the same week despite continuing the iron. I already know that copper plays a prominent role in how the body uses iron. It all fit together. I tried taking the basic 3mg for a month as suggested on Acu-Cell, and while my skin cleared quickly, any use of citric acid products, juices with vitamin C, tomatoes or Mg and MSM had me broken out again, and I still didn't warm up much. I finally decided to try the other method I'd read and upped my dosage to 6-8mg of copper gluconate(taken as a separate supplement) for a short 2-3 weeks. This time, my results have been much more long lasting, and I can eat and drink things that contain vitamin C, and I can supplement Mg without my skin overreacting. I'm also comfortable, even in air conditioned stores.

Mineral imbalances are manifested differently from person to person. I have no way of knowing what internal damages may have been occuring while my copper was low, but I hope that the improvements I have seen in my more obvious symptoms are a sign that any internal problems are on the mend as well. I have to add, I didn't come to the these realization overnight. I have been working to understand these reactions for years now, and I have tried many things to get some resolution of these issues. The continued success I have had with my current supplementation and food consumptions are significant for me.

Example of some of my sources (and no, I'm not suffering from alzheimer's, I hope):
