You may want to have your friend look into Iodine supplementation. I have just begun it myself so I can't say it has helped me much yet, though I do seem to have more energy. The first link below is for the Iodine Group. They are a group of researchers investigating the benefits of Iodine supplementation. Lots of info on that site. The second link is a recent post by Unyquity. It is a great summary of iodine supplementation, how to do it, what and how much to include.
