Thanks, B. I'm brand new to gardening, and the hostas were among just a few plants here when we bought the house last August. It was late summer by the time we saw them all completely infected with something. A nearby clump of tulips that came up a few weeks ago looks like it's being eaten by the same thing, leaves all sort of chewed, curled and deformed. I did see grubs in the ground when I was digging, though. I'll keep looking for a natural, nontoxic solution to keeping the hungriest critters under control.
