Re: Hello, I'm new here
Most of us here follow the protocols of Bragg, "The Miracle of Fasting" and Fuhrman, "Fasting and Eating for Health." Both allow nothing but distilled water, which in my opinion would include reverse osmosis water, or just about any purified water, just not tap water.
Both Furhman and Bragg encourage resting as much as possible with a little light walking and stretching.
Quite a few people on the board don't follow that advice. Those of us who have been doing this for years, I'm 59 and started reading and following Bragg when I was 25, think they are correct. Bragg died at 95 while body surfing in Hawaii. He's a favorite of mine. Get the oldest edition of the book you can find used. The newer books may have added recommendations for supplements, vitamins, etc. The orininals were very simple. Maybe you already know these books.
I laud your reasons for fasting. Most want to lose weight. Be careful though on trying to change your eating habits by fasting. It may give you a good start, but eating habits are changed by eating, obviously.
Neither Bragg nor Fuhrman would approve of fasting much longer than 10 days without supervision by a fasting professional, although Bragg wouldn't discourage longer fasts when one has a few years of experience with 10 day fasts under their belt.
Best to you in your fasting efforts,
Mike
