I already know that most churches out there today are a mess.  That's why I don't go to church.  I would go if I knew of one in my area that is real for Christ. While the Bible is clear that your faith is dead without works, it is also clear that works alone will not save you.  Works and faith in Christ that is alive must go together for salvation.  I do not believe in a works based salvation, however, once we become saved we will demonstrate works.  If we don't we know that we can identify our faith as dead faith as the book of James points out.  We cannot try to earn our way to salvation by good works either, leaving the rest of what the Bible says about salvation out of the picture.
