Actually it id more important to avoid sweet & acidic food ,coffee as well. The acid reflux, with the time it could damage the oesophagus, nevertheless if you take half of a tea spoon of Bicarbonate of Sodium (Natron, available in any food store )and drink it with 50 ml of water it would neutralise the burning sensation instantly, with a big burp as a side effect. ( It is a harmless natural salt used in bread or backing)
