Another thought - perhaps if the frequencies of the genetically modified organisms and/or all their components could be figured out, this would be another route to explore.
For example corn engineered with Bt toxin - we would need the frequency of the genetically engineered corn and also the frequency of the Bt toxin and all other organisms present in the plant as a whole (if it contained fungus or whatever).

About the nanoparticle component - I have absolutely no idea about this except for nanoparticles are probably being used in the genetic modification process. It is most likely deliberate.
