Water hyacinth is considered a noxious weed in the north of Australia.

It is not a good plant to have in the river systems, but in an isolated waste treatment pond, it could be very useful.

Maybe some use could be made of the water hyacinth already growing wild in our river systems, collecting it for bio-fuel generation would be one way of keeping it under control, and making use of the plants.
