Re: Prosthetic leg
Thank you very much Doc for your reply. Her amputation was many years ago and for many years did not have this many problems with the prosthetic. The guy that was making it decided to get out of the business when the insurance kept cutting back and he was not willing to compromise his work and thus not receive value for the time he put in to make it work. He got frustrated with the system and went into research. It has been since then that the problems developed and have been steadily getting worse for about the past 8 years or so. We will be meeting with a woman CPO this time who had good referals. I will let you know how it goes.
Thank you for confirming my feeling that a good chiro could also be beneficial to the process. I was hoping the other CPO would recommend someone that he has worked with, but apparently, he does not see any value to working with anyone else which didn't give me a lot of faith in his sincerity.
The wobble has been a problem because she is no longer sure footed and has already fallen a couple of times which is not a good thing. This contributes to being even less sure footed and less confident.
The nerve block was done at the stump just below the knee. She was told at the time that it might come back to life and looks like it has. It was a special proceedure (sorry I don't know how to explain properly)and very few do it. She had to go to Salt Lake City to have it performed. The idea was to deaden the nerve and it did work initially. She now wears patches on the nerve area to keep that discomfort in check. They are expensive though.
Yes she is special and for the most part her attitude is good, but this constant loss of her mobility and independence does get to her as it would most. All I can do is help were I can and support her and yes give her tons of love.
Thanks again!
