Police Brutality
I saw this story on television today.

While I can see where the officer may have
been frustrated by this woman's behavior,
she was handcuffed and certainly not a
threat to this man. It seems to me that
there is a penchant to use excessive
force and then leave it up to the police
administrations to cover up for you.
It also seems that it is happening with
an alarming frequency. Certainly, under
most circumstances where I might have
interaction with a police officer, I
would hesitate to take any rights for
granted anymore. It has become a situation
where things need to get a lot better, or
we can expect them to get much worse. I
saw recently where they developed weapons
which would allow for tasering groups of
people at one time. The shift from officer
of the peace to officer of intimidation
and brutality has come full circle it
seems.
I also live close to a sheriff and do
visit with him and I know that he has a
different mentality. Still, it is a trend
which we should consider a wake-up call.
