I had heavy gum recession also from years of chewing snuff. My dentist told me that the bottom of my teeth were actually exposed 12 years ago and I could expect plenty of tooth and gum infections since there was no way to keep the bacteria out. He said there's no way known to man to regrow gums so just spend your time water picking, brushing and flossing.
I panicked and headed to the internet. I found that actually Co enzme Q10 was supposed to regrow gums to some extent, so I dosed heavily on that for awhile. I wouldn't say my gums are back to normal, but it did reverse the recession to some extent and I really haven't had problems with my teeth or gums in the 12 years that followed (as far as I know).
The tooth pain I had a few days ago was my first incident at all, and was handled by OPing. Anyway back on track, get some quality bio available form of CoQ10 and dose with that for awhile. The only side effect I know of for CoQ10 is that it's also excellent for your cardiovascular health. (there's that link between dental and cardiovascular health again)
