Re: Pregnant with IUD?
yes it is possible to get pregnant with the iud still in place - i do not know the percentages, but it has happened to people on this forum. officially, mirena is 99% effective, that means that some women will conceive while on it. But considering that the manufacturers are not even sure HOW mirena works - they have ideas but not completely sure lol, then you could say we are all just one big experiment.
However, it is not unheard of for people to FEEL like they are pregnant - ie have all the symptoms and yet not be pregnant with mirena, many symptoms that people can get when they are pregnant, for example, feeling sick, dizzy etc, are simply side effects of the mirena. So the best thing you can do is to get a test immediately. Most people who conceive while the mirena is in, will be likely to have a miscarriage, not only because the mirena knocks the egg out of its position, but also due to the chemical itself (which is the same chemical used in the "morning after" pill (although that has a much higher dose).Your first stop has to be the doctor or pharmacy to get a proper test done. if you are pregnant, then the iud needs to come out immediately, and if you are not pregnant, then you may want to reconsider having a chemical in your blood stream which gives you these kind of side effects. I hope all works out well for you. good luck. x
