1. I have been told by various alternative doctors that I might suffer from a candida/yeast issue... is
The Master Cleanse going to make this worse in the long term? There are no decisive answers to this, what are your experiences?
If you suffer from yeast issues the
Master-Cleanse is not your best choice as it is
Sugar based--and of course
Sugar feeds yeast! You can do a wonderful cleansing fast, however, on the juices of fresh fruits and veggies. Limit your fruit to green apple (Granny Smith is best), and drink it in the morning. Choose green vegetables and leafy greens. If you don't have a juicer, get one! Folks like the Juiceman products for price and function, but there are many out there. You should drink 3-6 cups of fresh juices daily. DO keep your colon very clean every fasting day, using the
Master-Cleanse protocol (herbal lax tea/salt water flush), and/or plain
water enema every fasting day. This is critical.
2. I have just moved to New York from London and have just started a new waitressing job that I am depending on, will I be able to continue this as I do the fast? If not, what days should I book off? Is it easier as the begining or end of the fast to function normally? (I could not handle embarrassing toilet issues, bad moods, nausea or fainting!)
The first week of any fast is tougest, particularly if you are new to the process. I would highly recommend you do a pre-fast diet to minimize detox symptoms. Eat fruits and veggies for a week before beginning to fast, and this will get your body in the cleansing mode in a gentle manner. If you drink coffee, taper off and stop over 3-5 days (don't just stop cold or risk the dreaded caffeine headache). I ate this way for 30 days before my epic 60 day fast and was delighted I did! I had a fresh fruit/natural yogurt smoothie for breakfast, raw veggie salad dressed with fresh lemon juice/good oil for lunch, and homemade vegetarian vegetable soup for dinner. Drink LOTS of pure water while eating this way, and don't eat anything BUT the above. This is a cleanse! It will be hard not eating breads etc., particularly if you have yeast that screams for carbohydrates! You can drink fresh juices--again, limit fruit to above and keep sweet veggies like carrots minimal. Add fresh ginger/garlic to juices for extra cleansing, excellent for yeast problems. If you have any further questions on juice fasting, let me know.
3. I have read that the maple syrup aspect could be detrimental to weight loss or those with slight
Sugar addictions. Is this true? Would a juice diet be better?
The maple does not hinder weight loss. However, it is the wrong stuff for yeast/sugar issues.
4. Would 5 days be much less beneficial than 10? Scared I do not have the will power for 10!
I would suggest you start with a three day juice fast. This will give you the experience, and you can do it mostly over a weekend. DO eat the pre-cleanse diet--if you are pretty dirty/toxic, those first few days are toughest and the diet will help make things easy for you.
Break your three day fast well. For a couple days afterward, eat LIGHT (not too much at a time), eat SLOWLY (chew foods well) and eat CLEAN (nothing heavy, meaty, sugary, greasy). The pre-cleanse diet will work, just keep portions small. Break til normal digestion is well established.
Being a colon cleansing queen, I can relate to your story. I highly recommend you look into a series of professional
colonics to help with your cleanse. That gut you describe is likely full of old gunk that needs to come out, and nothing does the trick like a good pro colonic! SHOP! Find someone with experience and excellent equipment. Interview the therapist and find out if they do massage with the colonic, how many they have done, how they are certified, etc. If you like the person, sign up for a series (usually three)! You can do this in conjunction with fasting with excellent results.
I know... lots of info! However, it sounds as though you need to get your feet on the cleansing trail and reclaim the radiant good health that is everyone's right! It took me four years, but I attained my goal, turning 50 with a clean pink colon and feeling WONDERFUL!
My best to you,
Somer
