Sounds like something I've had on my mind as well. Am a vegan too. What I discovered sometime back is that organic medium grain brown contains as much as 10 grams protein per half cup (but not so much in short or long grain). I have replaced white rice to the extent possible with this brown rice to inrease my protein intake. That apart, I too eat a lot of nuts especially almond, pumpkin seeds etc. Since I am also following the food for my blood type, my choices are relatively more restricted. being an O type, I can't eat lentils but I make up for them by the likes of black eyed peas, pinto beans etc. Since unfermented soy is ruled out by most people as being harmful, unfermented soy is a good choice but again i have heard not so good things abut that too.
Then there are also protien rich cereals which carry upto 10 grams of protien per serving.
So if we totl up 10 grams from rice plus about 10 grams from nuts/seeds, 10 grams from cereals and more from miscellaneous items like vegetables, spirulina....we easily get over 30 grams of protein per day which i gather is just about what we need.
Would appreciate inputs from anyone else who knows more. I literally look for pretein content in everything I buy each time I go to the grocery store. I am not the odd one out, right?
