I am on day ten of a planned 45 day juice fast.
I went on a 30 day juice fast maybe 10 years ago and this is long overdue.
Unlike the other long one, I was not hungry on the first three days. Not at all which is kind of surprising.
But today I am thinking all I can't wait till I can eat this or that. Wow still have 35 days to go and it seems like forever.
I originally had to postpone my fast and then miscalculated the days and unfortunately, the last day of my fast is thanksgiving..darn. But on a bright note, my grown sons said they will take me to dinner after the 1st since I can't eat on thanksgiving.
I got through a tough time going to a 4 mile long or so festival full of foods calling out to me but I stuck with the juice I brought with me. My brother did not help by several times saying do you want to split this or that food with me and offering me food even though he knows I am fasting.
When I first became a vegan twice he said don't you want to go get some (here he inserted one of my favorite fast foods)..I finally told him he was being mean and he apologized. He did offer to split a lemon shake and pointed out a apple cider slush at the festival in staying with the juice fast (I declined those).
He knows I gave up buffets recently and 4 times has asked me to go to a pizza buffet. finally I found a vegan/vegetarian Indian food buffet, I was thinking of going to after my fast and asked ifg he would go and he refused again bringing up the I will go to the pizza buffet. I almost pleaded but he refused so if I go, I guess I will go alone. He said he hates that kind of food even though he never tried it.
I am getting some mixed messages from him. Once he said there is no way you will do this that long (I will). Then I think it is not good for you (healthy) and then twice keep up the good work..stay on your fast. What is with that?
He also asked me to split my favorite cheese meuster with him when we stopped at a farmer's market on the way to the festival. He is my only support system an the only one seeing me on a regular basis. My one son thinks it is good I am doing this and the incurables but said I should also take meds (He knows I have a disdain and phobia for them and is worried I will die I am sure).
I still have a wedding that I have to go through without eating the delish food.
I postponed my fast for another wedding and the food was not that great and did not mess me up hardly at all as some healthy stuff that was vegan, but I am hoping this one is not loaded down with more variety (how selfish of me :)

I am on this to try to reverse diabetes. I am not doing too good with adding the incurables as things were interfering but I did some of it and hope today to start it more in earnest and stick with it.
I have recently become a vegan from a whole foods (with occasional messups 85% vegan and 90% vegetarian diet so I decided to stop meat, fish, dairy and eggs.
I loved beef, lamb, eggs and cheese but they have got to go as I heard vegan especially raw vegan reversal of diabetes and other things I have. The hardest to give up was cheese and not using meat as flavoring when making soups and stirfrys. Any ideas for helping with this?
I am trying to move towards more raw but this is the hardest of all. I average 50-85%.
I had started walking daily after years of inactivity about 3 months ago when I saw how bad my diabetes was...just diagnosed week one had dozens of reading in the 400 and 500s and one over 600.
I lost 26 pounds from that even though I am not restricting my food at all eating all I want as before.
The first 3 days of the juice fast, I lost 10 pounds and the next 2 days another 2, but was disappointed to just lose one pound in the next 5 days although my intake is less than 1000 calories in juice and herb teas. wondering why it slowed down that much.
Total weight loss since I began is 40 pounds. More to come I hope.

This is a reply to # 1,513,381It is odd I feel nothing much...I remember last time I felt some energy and better, but I do feel my thinking is a little clearer.
I had some odd reactions that I do not know if they are cleansing reactions or just something else and co-incidence.
I had horribly itching welts/hives (the kind that you can't sleep, they drive you mad and you rip your skin all up scratching them) for three days that came and went. On my way to the wedding, the bottom left lip swelled up to 4 times its size for unknown reasons and after hours left.
I then had 2 days no welts and them another day of welts. Also a gout attacks but I had found a can of sardines in the cupboard that I missed and ate them right before my fast so maybe it was from that.
Yesterday I felt sick to my stomach and really unwell but I couldn't quite put my finger on it but like my head was too heavy or woozy or something. That was yesterday.
I had gotten 4 greens I never had before with Asian names and something in my juice tasted strong and sort of awful despite adding v8 to disguise it.
I tried to find it today but did not really taste it this time though I used the 4 greens and much more veggies in my juice.
But other than that, I feel the same. It always seems when my brother does the least change..exercise, taking garlic, eating this or that he gets a big change..I never felt any better no matter how much good I do..I wonder why that is.

This is a reply to # 1,513,382Anyhow, I am so glad I am doing this as I have wanted to juice fast for ten years and never found the right time..my son chastised me for holding off on my fast due to the wedding saying let nothing stand in the way of your program.
This time I am not going to go backwards except for little things perhaps. I am trying to change the way I am and also will be looking at my emotions. I am grateful we have juicers to quickly make juice. I remember years ago hearing about some one who saved a friend by grating them a quart of fresh carrot juice and squeezing it through clothes to get the juice. Now we just need a switch for better health and have so much produce at our fingertips and the internet to quickly tap into the knowledge that took people many years to learn.
There are so good things in our society along with all the bad and these are a few of them.
If anyone had anything to say or is on their own fast or thinking of starting one, please post.
I think if you are not like me, you will feel way better. Just stopping the foods we have unknown allergies to will do a lot and I remember talking to someone at the gym once who said the week she juice fasted was the best she ever felt in her life.

MoreThis is a reply to # 1,513,383What I liked about my last 30 day fast was that the large amount of weight I lost I did not gain back right away in yoyo fashion. this never ever happened to me in my life. Long before we heard the term yoyo, I noticed if I lost weight, I ALWAYS gained it back plus more even on times that I was eating less than when I began.
With the fast and Dr Richard Schulze 's incurables program, I lost 60 pounds and still only gained 1/2 of it back over the last ten years. I think weight lost that way via detoxing and colon cleansing etc is a different kind of weight loss.
What do you like about fasting? I was not hungry the whole time on the 30 day fast after the 1st three days although once in a while I wished for some food which is odd for a compulsive food addict. Fasting was way way easier than facing eating where control was super hard.

My story and history

I was diagnosed with diabetes 4 months ago.
Three days later I got a reading of too high for the meter to read over 600 as well as about 15 readings in the 400 and 500s range and many, many in the 200s and 300s and the lowest was 157 in over 100 readings.
I did the following and my blood Sugar never went into the 400s and up and only 5 readings in the 300s with the rest 200s and some high 100s" for the next 3 months.
1 exercised 6-7 days a week walking, water aerobics or swimming
2 I became a became a vegan
3 I gave up buffets, fast foods and junk foods.
4 I tried to eat low on the glycemic index and ate less whole grains and fruits but did still eat some
5 I ate between 45-85% raw foods

Finally I went on a juice fast with some mild detoxing
Today is day 40 of my planned 50 day juice fast (well it was 45 but I decided to go to 50). I am averaging slightly over a pound a day weight loss.
I am taking in 3-6 cups of fruit and veggie juices raw, some commercials juices like v8, some herbs teas, and veggie broths so unfortunately only averaging about 40-65% raw
This is the exciting part..my blood Sugar is now in the low 100s ..the very highest was 157 and it is usually between 112 and 132 but I did have one normal reading of 97.
Even if I take in a lot of undiluted fruit juices, the blood Sugar stays in the low hundred range. You may want to dilute the fruit juices 50-50 if desired just in case.
I also lost a lot of weight and my blood pressure which was 160/90 was just checked and found to be 142/72 almost a 20 point drop. also my heart rate is down..not sure about cholesterol etc as not checked but I suspect is is all down too
I generally both while fasting and while not fasting take in about 80-85% produce ..this result is showing me the power of exercise and produce and raw foods.
I suspect when I come off the juice fast, my blood sugar will go up some and I might gain a little weight back but I hope to eventually go more raw and get it better once I eat up the health foods and things needing to be cooked in my pantry.
I hope this testimony will be of help and give hope to other diabetics.
Doing well on the fast at 40 days this is the longest one I ever did...marching on to 50 days. I am losing weight so well on this, I may start doing a few long fasts a year and maybe some short ones.

You are doing a great job! I am planning to fast for weight loss in the new year, but am also looking forward to many other benefits as well.
Are you still exercising during your juice fast? If so, how much exercise are you doing?
What veggie and fruit juices are you sticking with?
Also, What brand of veggie broth do you use? Or do you make it yourself?
Thanks for indulging all of my questions; I am relatively new to this and it is motivating to read about the success of fellow fasters!
