Hi there, I also got sick in India and it turned out to be Entamoeba Histolytica and not Giardia. There is a different treatment for EH than Giardia. I would redo mend finding a doc that can do a sigmoidoscopy and then culture the sample ASAP. Cheers. Brian   [End]

Sorry to jump in but that same lab at the Cleveland Clinic did not identify any parasites in my sample and the ”fabulous” doctors there diagnosed me with IBS-D. Hi IR, I understand your point in terms of medication and dosage. While I was able to eradicate E Histolytica, it was from a much stronger dosage than that of what Dr. Cahill prescribed. However, I believe Jazzy and myself have advocated numerous times that Dr. Cahill is best for providing an actual diagnosis. For me, Dr. Cahill was the only lab/Dr. that was able to diagnose my problem. Has any other lab came back with Giardia for you? Dr. Cahill also does a comprehensive metabolic panel and a complete CBC w/ auto diff + white blood cell count. While the sample via sigmoidoscopy is very important, these two tests are also very important in painting the full picture of the patient. Especially in the case of E. Histolytica. I had all signs of Giardia and didn’t do anything about it. The bug turned intro something chronic that flagyl and tinidazole (plus many others) couldn’t kill. A few weeks after the protocol, I’m going to do a metametrix stool and fingers crossed, it comes back clean. My best guess is entamoeba histolytica, blasto or d fragilis. Hi there, I posted a follow-up to my triple therapy and my experience since the protocol but it seems to have got lost in many threads down. Long story short, I took the first line protocol of the triple therapy and didn’t see much progress in my symptoms. I then took a course of rifaximin for SIBO. I felt the best I’ve ever felt for about 4-5 days but then my symptoms slowly came back. My best guess is that the inflammation in my small intestines caused a bacterial overgrowth and the rifaximin helped calm the overgrowth but didn’t kill the underlying cause of the inflammation. ...

I always eat healthy and have plenty of protein so that should never really be an issue. Not quite sure if I’m going to take the second line. Might try the SIBO (rifaximin) option first as I have no proof of blasto or d. fragilis. Yes. No problem at all. I got my test results back from Dr. Amin’s lab in Arizona and everything came back normal. This was a little concerning given my belief of blasto or d fragilis (the more I read, the more I think it’s d fragilis then blasto) based on all of the literature I have read. However, after reading up on badbugs, I should note that I only stopped taking heavy dosages of Tinidazole about 6 days prior to my samples.
