Interesting that into the video at 3:15, they state that American women who are low in Iodine (approximately 1/3) are PARTICULARLY susceptible to perchlorate poisoning. I found it interesting as well, that they failed to identify WHO is making this stuff, what the EFFECTS are of perchlorate poisoning (other than damaged thyroids & abnormal brain development in children) and that it's thoroughly UNREGULATED by the EPA. F*ckers...and they've got their collective undies-in-a-bunch over vitamins & herbs.

Perchlorates block thyroid function and are known to cause thyroid cancer, birth defects and more. The U.S. National Academy of Sciences (NAS) 2005 report summary stated that they are at least ten times more toxic than their Dept. of Defense said was safe. Actual data shows that they are 100 times more toxic. As with so much else, we do not know how synergistic they are with ionizing radiation and fluorides. There has been a sharp increase in thyroid cancers in young people in New Jersey, California, Florida and other states. Perchlorates turned up in organic salad greens grown with Colorado River irrigation water and in dairy samples and breast milk. The NAS report recommends no more than .0007 mg per kilogram of body weight.

Dental fluorosis is not the only risk stemming from a baby's exposure to fluoride. In the same week that ADA issued its advisory, an article in the British journal, The Lancet, reported that fluoride may damage a child's developing brain. The Lancet review described fluoride, along with the rocket fuel additive perchlorate, as an "emerging neurotoxic substance" due to evidence linking fluoride to lower IQs in children, and brain damage in animals.

Patients who used water from wells and municipal plants may be exposed to potassium perchlorate, a very powerful goitrogen that behaves like fluoride, binding to the halide-binding site of the symporter without itself being symported. A recent Internet publication by Kirk et al (16) reported the presence of high concentrations of perchlorate in dairy milk sold in grocery stores and in human milk. The mean levels of perchlorate were 5 times higher in breast milk than dairy milk. Perchlorate has a selectivity factor of at least 30 over iodide. To compete effectively against this goitrogen, the peripheral concentration of inorganic Iodide must be at least 100 times higher than the concentration of perchlorate. Kirk et al (16) observed that breast and dairy Iodide levels were inversely correlated with the levels of perchlorate. Perchlorate and fluoride, due to their high redox potential, may cause oxidative damage to the halide binding site, decreasing its efficiency for Iodide transport.
