Hi there, I am on day 5 of my master cleanse and my tongue is very thickly coated, other than that though I don't have any major symptoms. I was wondering if this coating is likely to be gone by day 10? I did a 10 day Water Fast a couple of months ago and at the end of ten days my tongue was still coated which never quite went away. One of my reasons for embarking on The Master Cleanse was because I wanted to give my body a chance to finish the work that it evidently hadn't finished before (and I frankly couldn't face the thought of Water Fasting again). After the Water Fast my tongue cleared up partially but not completely and now of course it is heavily coated again. I was just wondering: does the tongue usually clear up within 10 days of The Master Cleanse for most people? I really don't want to end the fast and have the same problem as before, however I don't really want to continue this much past 10 days either, if I don't really have to. If anyone knows about this I would really appreciate a reply. Thank you! Nicky

This is a reply to # 804,646I asked the same question here when I did my 35 day fast. My tongue stayed white and fuzzy looking the whole time. The oldtimers here in the forum said it was normal and not to worry about it. It's been a week now since I completed my fast and now my tongue is pink and healthy looking.

MoreThis is a reply to # 804,650Thank you! That is amazing that it stayed coated for such a long fast! I think I will just do the ten days this time and hopefully the same thing happens to me and it clears in a week or so if it hasn't already. I would rather do this cleanse more often for shorter periods then try to keep it going for a long stretch. Ten days seems to be quite long enough I must say. I take my hat off to you! Nicky

This is a reply to # 804,646It is highly unlikely that your tongue will clear up in 10 days. In the close to 5 years that I have been around on and off I have never heard of anyone getting a clear toungue in less than 3 weeks. It took me in the 35 day range once the first time. I just finished a 36 day MC mid Dec and although I didn't have a thick coating towards the end it never did get totally pink. In all the years I've been around I have heard of veeery few stories of folks actually getting the pink tongue so I don't put much stock on the idea. Don't expect any miracles from a 10 day MC as that is the minimum reacomended time.
A 10 day MC is in my book more like a maintenace thing for folks who have been cleasning and eating really well for a good while. It takes your system 8 days or so to hit it's cleansing stride and 15 days or so before the system has totally adapted to fasting and after that as far as I'm concerned is when the real magic happens and your system goes into the deep tissue cleansing at the cellular level. For me a minimum MC is 21 days.
I wouldn't use the toungue thing as any kinda gauge cause no matter what, you have done some good cleansing irregardless of pink tongue or not.

This is a reply to # 804,731I don't think that there is any one identifiable way to gauge success cause it's always gonna be relative to each individuals goals and expectations. The main point that I was making was in regards to the tongue thing because that comes up over and over.
If there was any difference in the one MC that I actually got the pink tongue and any of the other I sure couldn't tell you. It's always a big change physically psychologically and inner peace for me. Keep in mind that I have never done any MC less than 21 days and out of 7 MCs 5 have been in the 40+/- range.
People keep thinking that they'll get the same benefit by doing several short cleanses a year and that is just not so. They'll only keep wiping the surface clean. To get into the deeper recesses and to effect some real changes physically, psycologically and for those so inclined spritually I say 21 days is minimum cause it's only after around 2 weeks that the body has completely adapted to the fast and then the real magic starts happening at the cellular level.
I would say with no reservation whatsoever that a person would be way ahead of the game doing 2 21 day MCs a year than doing 4 10 dyers. You hafta also keep the bigger picture in mind and that what you do between the fasts is what really determines your real success whatever that may be to the individual, You can't expect to eat/live like crap in between cleanses and get the same benefits whether your doing 10 21 or 40 dayers. There are no compartmentalized issues. to really succeed you gotta look at "Da Beeg Piture"

coated until your resume normal digestion &
elimination again. This is normal and also
why someone fasting longer fasts also have
a coating. Here is a link which shows charts

your body is focusing on now depending on
the location of the coating~~
