Can anyone tell me whether there is any evidence supporting the safety of glyconutritional supplements during pregnancy?
Can anyone tell me whether there is any evidence supporting the safety of M*******h's glyconutritional supplements, which include other ingregients, during pregnancy? Manna-C states not to use it during pregnancy and Catalyst says not to use for young children. Other brands of shark cartiledge (which I believe is in A*******e and therefore most M*******h products) say not to use during pregnancy as a caution.

MoreThis is a reply to # 573,742We are working with a couple of midwives and a mandatory part of their working with the pregnant women is that they be taking A*******e. It is food. Nothing artificial. You check out http://glycoscience.org for more information. If you need more info I can see what I can find. A*******e is safe for all ages. MannaC may be a little much during pregnancy, I don't know and instead of Catalyst I recommend PhytoBears. It is made specially for children and meets their needs.

This is a reply to # 573,775I am concerned regarding the advice given here.
Firstly, Manna-C states specifically NOT to be used during pregnancy.
Secondly, certain foods can be dangerous when eaten excessively during pregnancy, so therefore an isolated substance from food also has the potential to be harmful and cannot just be disregarded as an issue because it is called food.
Thirdly, Phytobears have a totally different combination than Catalyst and therefore can't be used as an alternative.
Be careful to give accurate advice. These are good products, however they need to be used appropriately. There also appears to be a lack of evidence relating to pregnancy and the use of these products. By evidence I mean scientific, not just testimonial. Some people smoke all through pregnancy and end up with a healthy baby, but that doesn't mean it will happen for everyone.

This is a reply to # 573,742Glyconutrients are dietary supplements that supply sugars such as glucose, galactose, mannose, fucose, xylose, N-acetylglucosamine, N-acetylgalactosamine, and N-acetylneuraminic acid. These sugars are thought to be necessary for cells to communicate with each other in the body.
