I have had a yeast infection for four years. No doctor was even interested. My specimens kept coming up negative.
However, I contacted the Great Smokies Diagnostic Lab
http://www.gsdl.com/home/gsdl/
and gave them a call:
Great Smokies Diagnostic Laboratory/Genovations™
63 Zillicoa Street
Asheville, NC 28801
USA
Telephone: (828)253-0621
I asked them to give me the names of the doctors in my area (Long Island, NY) who use their service. They gave me the name of about three. I went to one of them, Dr. Susan Groh, 2916 Frankel Blvd, Merrick, NY 11566 Tel: 516-867-5132. She gave me their laboratory testing kit and followed the directions. They need stool samples for three consective days after being off any probiotics, or other anti-fungals for three consecutive days.
The results came back positive showing I had three different yeast infections, candida albicans, Rhodotorula species, and candida krusei. The doctor has prescribed ketoconazole tablets 220 mg/day. It is a potent drug and I am being monitored. However, the second day I had an absolutely numbing dieoff and I am starting to feel like it is going away.
Altogether it is a 6 month process to get rid of the yeast.
I strongly urge everyone with yeast to contact this laboratory and ask them for doctors in their area that use their services.
Good luck.
