I was diagnosed with Giardia this week (genova labs.) What has worked? I've had extreme fatigue for 1.5+ years and would get massive stomach aches and diarrhea every month or so. I've been trying to treat the fatigue as adrenal fatigue but cant get ahead there. I'm ready to knock this out so I can focus on healing myself. All labs are awful. I started a pro-b this week and had extreme gas again. It must be reacting with the parasite. I tried to do a light cleanse (advocare). See the link below. I had a severe herxheimer reaction and couldn't get out of bed. Any ideas?

This is a reply to # 2,303,19210 yrs ago I had that and another one based on a Metamextrix test. I was "going" on short notice twice per day for weeks and had lost 10 lbs--the last few while trying to gain weight. After a week of alinia I was back to normal. I wish I could have kept the weight off : (

This is a reply to # 2,303,185Taking probiotics may well increase the problem and there are several reasons for this. These infections create havoc in the body as you are probably well aware of. Issues with adrenal fatigue, systemic fatigue, liver congestion, neurological problems etc all occur with these infections.

This is a reply to # 2,303,185According to the medical textbook, Medical Parasitology, the drug for giardia is Metronidazole or Quinacrine.
Go to an infectious disease specialist. This is a fairly common infection so a good doctor should be experienced in this.
After you use the drugs, you may want to try the GAPS diet to repair the damage to the intestine. Be good to yourself and rest. Be gentle to your damaged intestines. - Re: Giardia - Help! HotelParasite

This is a reply to # 2,303,185I don't know of anything that works other than Metranidazole 500 MG twice a day for 10 days.
