I think she is deficient in Vitamin D3. I suffered for decades every winter & spring with a TERRIBLE chest cold that started in my nose, spread to my throat and then into my chest. I sometimes even lost my voice. I also caught every flu that came around.
Then I discovered Vitamin D3 and I haven't had a chest cold or the flu in 8 years! Now the worst I see are a few sniffles during the winter. You need to take enough D3 to raise your blood test to 70 - 80 ng/ml. For most people this requires 8,000 to 10,000 IU D3 oil based Geltabs. Some people may need co-supplements if they have trouble raising their blood level.

Vitamin D3 Cofactors
Cofactor vitamins can help those who may have trouble getting their blood test to the optimum 70-80 ng/ml. Experience has demonstrated most of us can get optimal blood testing without the cofactors.

NO NO NO NO NO NO to Antibiotics.
They kill everything in sight, your good bacteria along with the bad ones. They cripple your immune system. Most of your immune system is in the gut. Iodine is far better for your health than antibiotics. Iodine is the best antibiotic ever discovered.
"Iodine is by far the best antibiotic, antiviral and antiseptic of all time.
- Dr. David Derry
Dr. Derry says that iodine is effective “for standard pathogens such as Staphylococcus, has the broadest range of action, fewest side effects and no development of bacterial resistance.” There is a world of difference between using an antibiotic – anti-life substance – and an antibiotic, antiviral and antifungal substance like iodine, which is life serving because it is a basic and most necessary nutritional substance.

Grizz
Hey mumnz,
I'm sorry to hear about your daughter. I'm still an amateur with the whole alternative medicine (definitely concur my opinions with some of the senior members), but here is what I can suggest based on what I've read:
1. Try H2O2. It has amazing antibacterial properties. With involvement of lungs, I would add this because it has been used to treat emphysema. As a matter of fact, trapper cured his emphysema with food grade 35% hydrogen peroxide. Be careful - don't use the one they sell in the pharmacies. They have many preservatives and they can't be taken orally.
Here's my thread on it
http://curezone.org/forums/am.asp?i=2161329#i
2. Mixing lugol's with vitamin C - I think I remember reading about interactions of vitamin C and lugol's. This reaction doesn't happen with iodoral tablets (the reason why I got them).
You can try to search for trapper's message where he mentions his peroxide experience amongst other things. I haven't figured out the search function properly on this forum yet.
Hope this helps. And I wish you well with figuring out the solution to your daughter's problem.
Good luck,
