Hello All,
Long time away. Some quickie background.
My wife is a liver transplant recipient. 21 years out. I mention this as it makes a huge difference as to what we can do... what we launch in to.... etc etc. An upside is she has labs every 3 or so months so we can see how things are trending. I've been fortunate to develop close relationships with the various medical teams and have been able to 'call' for particular labs and get the results directly to us. This has been extremely helpful.
We also work very hard to NOT get into the clutches of modern medical science when we feel it is safe to either avoid it, or we are able to run labs and follow important trends. This is a double edged sword of course because modern medical science saved her life so we can't just toss those relationships out the window. It is a juggling act fer sure.
One interesting item of note is approx 3 or 4 years ago, argh, can't keep track of the calendar on this stuff... she was diagnosed with thyroid nodules. The short of it is with an aggressive balancing act, we amped up her iodine intake, and co-supps, watched her labs carefully, and over time the nodules have shrunk. It was and is spectacular to see the look on the specialists when they read results. The first one was priceless.... the doc who called for an ultrasound read the results cold and the doc stumbled over the words 'shrinking', 'smaller', 'shrunk'... The doc ended up trying to muck through an explanation as to how this was possible. We of course did not amp up what we knew because it just turns into a series of Doubting Thomas', not possible, some other reason, very bad idea, and so on....
We are very, very careful too about how we share things that we do with her primary medical teams, and there are several. No sense in opening up a Pandora's box and all....
As much as I would like to throw her into full force with iodine to knock back the thyroid nodules ala information from Dr. Brownstein, David Derry, Jorge Flechas.... and so on. I have been a fanatical student of all this. So while it would be cool to go whole hog to get after thyroid modules, we've had to move gingerly and so far it appears to have helped the situation. I also way understate stuff because I am superstitious and don't wish to temp the fates and all.....
There are many other details that could go into her journey, rather our journey with iodine and many other protocols... but it would get long and boring so thought to add a highlight.
Here is a question for the saged ones here. I know this has been discussed ad naseum.... but it is about minerals. We follow the the salt pushes, we engage with various mineral protocols, and while I know ingesting natural food sources of minerals which we pursue... I am curious if anyone has some new ideas about........ minerals. To increase intake. Availability. And so on... We go over the range of minerals, from sea salts (several) to Colloidal Minerals, to particular types of food. And yes, we are also extremely mindful of her digestion processes too, knowing her meds have wreaked havoc over time with her intestinal tract. The good news here is over time she has reduced the meds her transplant team typically have a recipient on, to 2 or 3. Very cool. I still do know though that we are very aware of her intestinal function.
So that's a lot of typing to just ask about... minerals. Anyone have some new innovative cool ideas about amping up mineral intake? Part of this is we are chasing hairloss for years and, well... just thought to add that to the mix.
Pardon the length...
