Resistant starch resists digestion by you and lasts into the lower gut, to feed your good bacteria there.
I don't want to get into a debate about it, just wanted to post a link to a forum where people are methodically trying resistant starch in their diets and posting results. The forum happens to be one for low carb people BUT the thread I'm posting is a discussion amongst people who are on varied diets, not just low carb people. It's really a nice mix of input on the thread:
***The starch they refer to MUST be a special kind and MUST be eaten uncooked in order to be resistant starch. Don't just quickly read and think they are simply talking about cooked potato starch, they aren't!****
There's a quote on the thread of: "Before starting RS, my thyroid numbers were mid-range. Now (testing about 3 weeks ago), my T3 and T4 are above range and my TSH is .04. Additionally, body temps measured first thing upon waking used to average 36.5C. Now they average 37. (So it looks like adrenal healing, too)."

And this next link talks about this curing SIBO:

I bought the special starch at my local health food store. It was about $4. Just started it.
