I am so happy to finally live out in the country! Yeah! I am planning a BIG garden. The only problem I have is a buetiful but still frustrating one. I have a forest behind my yard and so I get LOTS of deer. I seriously will see 2-7 at one time. They ate ALLOT of my apples last fall and even some potted flowers that was on my porch wall.(right by my sliding glass door!) They are very tame and you will see them running through the neighbor hood and even around town. Soooo, my question is since my garden is big it will cost allot to fence so I am looking into other options. A guy at Home Depo said we can spray some stuff and the scent will "scare" them but since we get allot of rain it may not work. So our other option is netting(other than fencing) but I am silly and want to "walk" around my garden. So are there any other cost effective methods out there? I haven't met any gardening people here, yet!

MoreThis is a reply to # 1,395,377Electric fencing and you can also put cayenne pepper sprinkled all over. If it rains you do have to resprinkle the cayenne pepper though.

This is a reply to # 1,395,441Thanks. I have looked into the deer resistant plants and lets say they are hungry little critters! They have eaten my deer resistant bushes. The lady at the nusery told me deer resistant means that they might not eat it but that deeer will eat anything plant wise if they are hungry enough! I think that I will have to do the net/fence thing. I was just wondering if anyone else had a big deer problem.
