It's unfortunately real, but is usually only treated if you have HIV.
I don't know anyone that has HIV, yet I know plenty that have Candida overgrowths. If you go to a Doc that isn't specialized in HIV treatment they claim there's no such thing as Candida. AFAIK these specialists only exist in the Hospital, once you're near dead.
Thrush in babies is common and perhaps we all need to seek baby Doctors, but I suspect that will be difficult. In any case, their treatments are no better than ours, aside from being able to prescribe Nystatin/Diflucan.
