I have been wanting to do an OJ juice fast as soon as my orange tree ripens. I was talking about this to my husband and he got all upset. He started talking about last time I did a juice fast(a Norman Walker type) it made me sick and thin.(not true I just went through some detoxing) He thinks its dangerous to do an extended one(like more than 3 days)
So what do people out there do if there is opposition? I have always been into natural living/back to nature and herbs and he has joined me in allot of it.
I don't want to cause undue stress on him but I don't agree with his philosophy on health. Its just frustrating because we are like two peas in a pod over everything else except some healthy living issues.
I know its not him trying to be mean or anything he just has a different opinion from me.
Has anyone else had problems with close family members having undue concern?

MoreThis is a reply to # 1,006,638All the time. I have never had anyone on my side, so I usually lie about the whole thing, and not hang out with many people while I'm fasting. When I was married I was in a similar position, only my husband had no interest in natural health. He just said I was crazy, so I would make it a few days and then succumb to his grilled hamburgers eventually. Now I live alone but my boyfriend still does not like fasting, as a result we don't see each other that often, or I do it in secret, like through the week, and then eat with him on weekends. I have never been able to do more than two weeks, due to boyfriends/social pressure, but I can at least make it Monday through Thursday most weeks.
Maybe you could have him read some literature, having him on your side would help a lot.

This is a reply to # 1,006,638I do what I want to whether he likes it or not - we have a different approach - the one thing that I cringe about is anything that comes from Edgar Cayce because he is so down on anything that smacks of religion. I'm not crazy about it either but I'm more open minded and I'm certainly not going to refuse to try something because it was recommended by someone who is of some kind of spiritual belief system I'm not into. He just thinks people who listen to Edgar Cayce are delusional. I just don't pay him any mind....
Maybe I will get so healthy here that he will come around - we'll see.Advertisement

This is a reply to # 1,006,63895% of what people worry about never comes to pass. You started it when you mentioned it ahead of time. He can eat what he wants to eat, same as any adult has a choice.
You can eat 30-40 oranges daily, YOU WILL NEVER STARVE on oranges or any sweet fruit.. That sickness was already in you and those that think the fruits caused sickness are not bright enough to explain what you know.
EVERY good fasting book I have ever read states the sickly people will nag bag at you, IGNORE them, their missery enjoys company.
People can fast on fruits and no one knows unless they TELL!

This is a reply to # 1,006,827True and I agree but I have had various fasting books for 6 years and he has read a bit here and there but isn't interested in reading every health book out there like me.
Anyways, its not about me telling him or not he can see that I am only eating oranges. I think its about him being more concerned than anything. I have done Norman Walker type fast before and he thinks the dye off is bad no matter what the book says.
I never have done a fast with a single fruit. I have an orange tree so why not? Well when the tree produces I will start and go from there, no point in worrying now.

This is a reply to # 1,006,849I had the same problem with my husband. He is usually very easy going but feels like I'm pushing it and risking my health with fasts. Also, I think the biggest thing for him is my not eating with him. It really upsets him. He said ok to one 25 day juice fast which I did but does not want me doing another. Using MH's Spices and the juice, I did stay very healthy and didn't get as thin as I have on other juice fasts. Yet, he still does not want me doing another one.
Perhaps if you do the OJ fast with MH's Spices for Life Kit and he sees how healthy you are afterwards, he'll change his tune. Hope so for you!
