Do the math: 49/15,000,000 = 0.000327% I’m not minimizing the impact of any death but you could likely analyze a 15,000,000 non-vaccinated patient control group and find a similar or maybe even higher death rate from similar symptomology.
And - Death reports to FDA/VAERS are extremely dubious in terms of application to any sort of definitive morbidity & mortality statistical analysis, only anti-vaxers and attorneys claim veracity in raw VAERS data. VAERS allows and accepts input from ANYONE, regardless of their professional status or ability to discern a bonifide adverse reaction. There are little or no guidelines, requirements or restrictions placed upon submissions to the database. It was designed that way by the FDA to collect the largest body of data possible.
I wish I could find the reference again where I read that someone once turned in an auto accident death (not driving) as a post immunization adverse consequence!

A university classmate of mine worked as a detail rep for GSK and Pfizer for a number of years. He said the ”Big Pharma” companies only make the REAL money on the sale of newer proprietary drugs and that’s what he represented to healthcare providers. Marketing almost ignored promoting vaccines. With the significant discounts that are given to government, non-profit and public health agencies, they only make a relatively few pennies on immunizatons. I suppose that’s made up with volume but that has limitations as there are only so many people who can be immunized.

Why stop with just this one study? Plus - It’s a ”meta-analysis” which is the absolute weakest kind of study. The meta-analysis attempts to gather together and glean some sort of meaningful analysis from any kind of study. These studies may be “Apples to Oranges” comparisons, have variable quality or have a veritable quagmire of differing methodologies. Even a “good” meta-analysis of poorly designed and interpreted studies will still result in bad statistics. ...

VAERS is merely a centralized reporting vehicle where ANYONE, regardless of their medical knowledge or experience, may report ANY post-vaccination reaction or incident that they THINK might have resulted from a vaccination. While submissions to the database may be investigated by any number of agencies, there is no requirement that anything reported be further investigated and validated by a qualified medical forensics examiner. The data is very ”soft” and any definitive correlations inferred would be considered weak from the viewpoint of an epidemiological statistician.

Yes, likely a very few cases were seen in a previously vaccinated population. This is not ”news” as the longevity of vaccine’s protection has never been a secret. BUT the Pertussis vaccination still prevents and protects better than having NO vaccination. There have been significant new clusters of Pertussis outbreaks all over the nation of late and thorough investigation by public health epidemiologists have shown the vast majority of cases are principally amongst the un-vaccinated.

Even though this pertains to vaccination of cats, it’s worthwhile to do a validating risk versus benefit analysis. It’s very important to apply this kind of probability analysis to the real (or perceive) risks of any vaccination with any species.
The University of Google provides numerous references reporting the incidence of vaccination induced sarcoma in felines variously from 1 to 4 cases per 10,000 feline leukemia virus (FeLV) vaccinations. The common earthworm! A high protein food stable in some cultures and food recommended, along with grubs, in military survival training.
Highly unusual that it would be found in a packaged food. Insects, rat hair and rat feces are more commonly found in manufactured food products like pasta. You’d be morel likely to encouter an earthworm in lettuce at an organic vegetble market.

Initial (Phase I) testing of any medication or vaccine is mandated by CDC guidelines to test pharmacological effects in humans which can identify side effects. Subsequent phase testing, up to a total of 4 levels, evaluates effectiveness. Read all about it:

An interesting anthropological scenario... How is someone from a civilized ”Western” culture attributing the origin of the Ebola virus to an evil phantom shadowy covert military bio-weapons research lab any different from primitive and superstitious African cultures blaming Ebola on witchcraft, evil spirits or demons? Both views reflect the same lack of knowledge about epidemiology, virology and zoonotic disease transmission.

Good warning by WHO! This is a GREAT way to contract all manner of other infectious diseases including hepatitis & HIV. Both viruses have a high prevalence, almost endemic, in the population of the region! Plus - If some sort of crude transfusion practice is employed, there’s no testing for things like ABO & Rh incompatibility which can kill you quick.

Sure - Ebola COULD be used by rogue elements in a terrorist action! But, compared to many other infectious agents like even the common cold, flu, measles, pertussis or mumps, it wouldn’t be very efficient in transmission. You need agents that can be easily spread via micro-droplets in an aerosol distribution - one that can survive for many hours and float on the wind. 1) HCG injection has been tested, as far back as the 1970s, as a possible contraceptive. But it has caveats.... It doesn’t last very long and it doesn’t have a permanent effect. If ultimate population control was, indeed, the nefarious objective, this method wouldn’t be very efficient.
2) It’s interesting to note that the 1970s HCG vaccine development did, in fact, use a tetanus toxoid element to increase the immune reaction because the HCG didn’t cause much of a reaction.

I’ve said it before here and I’m going to say it again. It’s not a definitive analysis for any purpose other than being a somewhat crude barometer of what MIGHT be adverse reactions related to vaccinations.

BTW - Dr. Diane Harper was never a "Lead Developer" for Gardasil at Merck. She was only involved in the design of some of the clinical trials phase testing for Gardasil.
Also - She never worked with Cervarix, it was developed by GlaxoSmithKline. It's a competitor to Merck's Gardasil.

Why shouldn’t Merck be involved in studies of post marketing adverse events surveillance as mandated by Code of Federal Regulations 21CFR310.305 & 21CFR310.305? Not an equal comparison, aluminum is not radiotoxic. And the human body readily metabolizes and excretes aluminum compounds. A microgram of plutonium wouldn’t phase me at all and I’m sure I’ve been exposed to much more ionizing radiation in the past with an x-ray. The LD50 of plutonium is 5 micrograms per Kg so at my weight, plutonium would only become significantly dangerous to me when it approaches 500 micrograms exposure.

This has very little relevance to any risks in human vaccinations. The principal vaccines in use for humans using live attenuated viruses (LAV) are MMR, Chicken Pox and Polio. Flumist, while targets up to 4 different flu virus genomes, doesn’t use LAVs. Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Chicken Pox vaccines all only have ONE LAV each so recombination is not possible. Polio vaccines do use 3 LAVs but statistically, the risk of recombination is projected to be about 1 in 750,000. If the patient has ever had a polio vaccination before, residual immunity is present so it’s rarely a concern.

It is unfortunate that you have apparently developed Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) which may or may not have been precipitated by the flu vaccination. Yes, a strong coorelation was identified with GBS post flu vaccination with one vaccinaton type in 1976 but the same correlation has not been been statistically supported since. GBS is extremely rare, there are only 3000-6000 of GBS cases/yr in the USA. What I’ve posted is not about just "numbers", it’s about the powerful tool of probabilities analysis. Read one of Huff’s other books: "How to Take a Chance: The Laws of Probability"
