Re: apple cider vinnegar
by wgb 14 y
Natural foods like honey, vinegar, yogurt all have good properties, and they may make a small difference for the better, but they probably are not going to heal entrenched cheilitis if it is caused by any of the typical reasons (fungus, bacteria, virus, lip licking or biting, allergic reaction, hypothyroidism, vitamin imbalance, cancer).

There are 61 posts on the Peeling Lips forum where people have talked about vinegar in the past. I’d suggest you take a look:

Re: Lemon anyone?
by +Energy 18 y
I haven’t tried lemon but I just started using apple cider vinegar (diluted in water) as a topical treatment...it’s similiar to lemon in that they probably both have antiseptic qualities and even though they taste and feel acidic, they actually leave an alkaline residue in the stomach, which is a good thing. Furthermore, they both have their own beneficial minerals. You may want to go to the Apple Cider Vinegar forum or the Ask Moreless forum to inquire about the benefits of lemon. As for apple cider vinegar, if you visit the forum and/or do your own research, you’ll find that it has ma ...

Re: Update on the vinegar
by #53787 18 y
Thanks for the update.
On website it says ”Vinegar has a tonic action that promotes blood circulation in the small capillaries that irrigate the skin. It is also antiseptic, preventing the proliferation of bacteria, viruses, or yeast that trigger infection. It can dissolve excessive fatty deposits at the surface of the skin and reduce scaly or peeling conditions. Lastly, vinegar regulates the pH of the skin.”
One website also mentioned using only apple cider vinegar instead of normal vinegar. Which do you prefer? Also, do you recommend mixing it with water?

Crustylip,
You said you also sucked on a Mycelex to get rid of oral thrush. So, one might need to suck on the oral thrush tablet in addition to applying the ointment. You also drank apple cider vinegar, which may play a factor in eliminating candida faster.
Did you dilute the apple cider vinegar in water before you applied it on your lips? I think others who tried it diluted it in water so it didn’t sting.

Nystatin kills fungus. The following post also claims that vinegar kills fungus. The person’s fordyce spots went away after applying apple cider vinegar. (But, remember to dilute it in water). Hence, fordyce spots might come with infection...whether bacteria or fungus.

ACV is very high on histamine
by White Shark 8 y
ACV is very high on histamine, just like any other vinegar and also high on acids.
If you are histamine intolerant , acids intolerant, you may react very strongly to ACV. In that case, ACV is not good for you. Respect your body!
How do you know that you are histamine intolerant ?
- have problem tolerating alcohol
- have problem tolerating vinegar
- have problem eating processed foods
Histamine intolerance is a serious problem and goes hand in hand with food intolerance.

Re: cured my peeling lips - before/after photos
by cveale 10 y
It took me a week to get fully cured!
The first day dilution was about half and half...then I diluted it more with water the next day to about 1/3 vinegar.
Before I did the vinegar I got white skin out of the shower that I’d often wipe off..
Once I did the vinegar on my lips the first day, it basically ”burned” off and evened out the peeling layers of my lips and a new thick layer formed the next day.
This new thick layer I made sure to constantly moisturize with aloe and water.

I used a slight variation of this method to cure it. I got it from my drooling at night. I was 80% cured within 3 days and totally cured by the 5th day. It had been nagging me for almost 3 weeks prior to that. I would spray apple cider vinegar on the cuts and rub it in there, instead of using the dishwashing liquid. I would take it off with bar soap after 2 hours. The 3rd 4th and 5th day I would spray it with the vinegar, put on the pertroleum jelly and leave it on all night. I would even reapply it in the day once the cuts were almost healed. The main thing is just keeping it dry, doesn’t ...

If this works it could be because the peeling of the lips was caused by fungus/yeast. Fungus takes a while to heal because it has to be suppressed during skin cell reproduction AT ALL TIMES, otherwise a few fungus cells can quickly spread and infect other areas.
For instance there is a cure for fungal infected toenails that requires a daily soaking in vinegar, the vinegar inhibits fungus but only the fungus on the outer layers of the skin or nails. The deeper layers are still infected and the vinegar can’t penetrate deep enough to get to them. So each day as the old skin comes to the su ...

Distilled white vinegar

View Entire Thread 7
Has anyone tried using distilled white vinegar or any other type of vinegar. It seems to give my lips a nice burning sensation and I hear that vinegar is an antimicrobial agent. I think I need something that makes my lips burn to tell me that something is working or killing (murdering! lol) the bacterial if it is bacteria that is causing this. Aileen Strong, that person who supposibly had EC, said that the dish soap made her lips burn but when I applied dish soap (granted it was not the same brand) it did not make my lips burn at all. This will be my last post for a while. I need to reduce my stress as I continue to monitor slow but steady progress.
White vinegar is highly acidic (contains acetic acid), and from what I understand, acts as an astringent, killing bacteria, drying out the skin, and shrinking mucous membranes. Apple cider vinegar, usually diluted, is a commonly touted folk remedy for Candida yeast.
Consider the possibility that if and when you win the battle against bacteria or fungus, you cannot win the war by damaging the newly forming layer of the stratum corneum with acids, alcohol, sugars, fluor ...

This site lists precautions and side effects for most every pharmaceutical out there:

I didn’t experience any of the side effects, but you should check to see if you have any contraindications or don’t want to risk side effects, such as skin peeling or seizures.

I have eczema and angular chelitis as well. Although my allergy tests came back negative for everything I know my skin problems are caused by what I eat. What I’ve learned is that certain foods can still have a negative effect on the body even though you may not be ”allergic” to them. I’ve been doing food elimination diets for the past couple years to determine the causes and now I cut out gluten dairy milk eggs vinegar (and anything with vinegar in it like mustard) and citrus fruits (anything too acidic). I can minimize but not cure it with avoiding vinegar dried fruits and certain cheeses sauces. But I don’t think it’s the acid in fruit. I think it’s the pesticides. I do ok w organic fruit. I can’t use fake butter either like soy spread margarine etc. And certain nuts. I just don’t know if it’s the food or an additive. I can eat a chocolate sometimes but not all. I posted a picture of what’s happened after about 5 days. Notice the return of vertical lines! The whitening is a side effect of the vinegar and usually goes away after about 20 minutes.
I should note that, in order to prevent a buildup of the chitosan/vinegar gel, the mixture does have to be removed every now and then (and you have to be very careful with the underlying tissue; although, it is at least a little bit resilient). Interestingly, tonight, when I removed some of the stuff, the underlying skin had a...”squeaky” feeling, something which I haven’t noticed in a very long time.

Chronic Inflammation has a root cause. And it all comes down to one thing, which was stated in our paper: The Lost History of Medicine.
A healthy body has a pH of 7.0 and a negative electrical charge.

I have been fighting chelitis for a couple years now on and off. After going back and forth, round and round, trial and error, searching and researching, I have found some things that help me heal.
First since I am convinced my chelitis is fungal in origin, due to the fact that I took some serious garlic pills, (6 daily for six months) and was very lax on my probiotics, I needed to find an antifugal that would help me.. logically. I tried to stay natural and easily available so I settled on Braggs raw apple cider vinegar. I put 2-3 T in a 16oz water bottle, fill the rest with water and ...

I think the redness is caused when substances coming into contact with the wound area cause pain/ irritating. It appears as though the substance, e.g. food, chemicals in a cream etc, have caused this. When you rub a cut or bruise on your arm with salt or vinegar, what happens? Think carefully about this.

I don’t know what else but im sure you can find something, for the extreme cases a concoction of thyme oil and olive oil or hot water might kill the bacteria infection.

Hey everyone (and in reply to Kiran’s question). I’m really hesitant to post messages suggesting that some new approach has been working….but….I’ve been experimenting with white distilled vinegar (5% acidity) and something very interesting has happened.
