Hi Guys :-) I’m planning a long overdue cleansing of my bowel and bearing in mind my previous lack of success with P&B I decided to try Holistic Horizons products because they have no laxatives. Unfortunately they do have Psyllium so I wondered if I could substitute freshly ground flax seeds and, maybe, some slippery elm as the bulking agent. Well, i’m no expert but this is what I plan to do. bear in mind I’m going to use holistic horizons cleansing tablets as I’m not a fan of clay. right now I grind up 2Tbs of flax seeds in a coffee grinder real fine and take them mixed in with 8oz of water an hour before a meal. I do this once a day now but plan to increase in steadily to 3 times a day. Once I’m at this level i’ll introduce the cleansing tablets. you might try slippery elm bark as well as this is very soothing to the guts. Hi Guys, Yes, of course you can cook with it - it’s DAMN hot though! You will lose the beneficial effects doing so as has been mentioned. The stuff you buy in the supermarket is non-organic and irradiated making it pretty useless. It’ll be 30,000HU at best as well. Put it this way, I used to use that stuff liberally on my food so I thought I’d need loads of this hence over buying. Ok, I’ll tell you why I’m selling it. If you can give me a decent reason after that I’ll give it more time. Firstly I noticed zero benefit from using the zapper. I zapped round the clock as Don suggests for a month, then at least an hour a day after that. When we last spoke I’d just taken Colosan to try and improve my bowel movements. This caused me huge problems in that it didn’t really get through properly and backed up making eating very difficult. I never use a starter. All I do is shred the cabbage, carrots etc in my processer(really small so they take less space), add some caraway, cumin and/or fennel seeds, a tsp or so of celtic salt - although I’m plannning on making some without salt using kefir grains like Dom’s - and let it sit for a few mins. I then take a handful and blitz it down with some good water. I strain it off and add some to the mix. I followed a grain free diet for over a year and I know think it’s incomplete. The trouble with the high protien from animal sources diet is the acidifying effect on the body. As we now know all dis-ease states are acidic and rebalancing your internal ecology to one of a more alkaline nature brings you closer to health. Also lots of protien puts strain on the liver over time. Personally, I now follow the BED diet and make sure my grain consumption is only 20% of any meal. The reason for soaking grains is to break down nutrient robbing phytates. You’ll need to soak ’em for 8-24 hours for the best effect. Go here for a great article on caring for your grains the trditional way.   [End]
