I love your serenity prayer and I pray we will heed those words. It really is such a vicious cycle and we have both lived long enough to confirm that without question. We eat poorly and too much, then we lose vitality, energy, we gain weight...become despondent, depressed and then we are almost incapable of lifting ourselves up from the abyss. Good to hear from you Mike, as always. I did have the heart cath, but glory to God, the angioplasty was not done. I may have had a false reading on the stress test, I’m not sure at this point. I’m just so relieved that I did not require the further procedure. I have already been eating better for a couple months now, occasionally treating myself to some unnecessary carbs and fats, but I have lost 14 pounds since August. We frequently hear of elite athletes dropping dead from heart disease, heart attack, etc. You should see your physician immediately if you experienced proglonged chest pain. Please please please do not delay! Generally speaking, water-only fasting is a safe (when supervised) therapy for all types of physical and emotional ailments, but chest pain (that does not go away) early on in a water-only fast is NOT a normal indication. Thanks for all the great info. I don’t eat a lot of sugar, but I do love fruit and when I buy fresh fruit and cut it up, I sprinkle sugar on it and put it in the fridge for a couple hours. Hi Teach, I couldn’t bring myself to face the fast, I reached out for comfort food to calm my nerves, so I guess my course is set before me. I’m trying to concentrate now on the positives, because like you, I’m not a drug/doctor/surgery kinda person. Hi Hopsinso - thanks so much for answering so quickly. I was at work and read your reply, but could not respond. I was weak and could not even do 1 day of fast....seeking rather some comfort food to calm my nerves about this matter. My husband was (of course) dead set against me fasting. I wish I could have done it, but I don’t think I’m in a good frame of mind right now. I’ve had some irregular heartbeats and stress test shows possible blockage. They want to do heart cath, then possible angioplasty. My question is this: Could a 10 day water fast clear the blockage so I don’t have to go thru all that? I have not had any chest pain, just trouble breathing on exertion. I wanted to start exercising again and this is when all that came up. I was able to do the treadmill stress test so I did not need the chemically induced test.
