Not sure, but I noticed a significant difference in my body. So did alot of other individuals. I sure have a heck of a lot more energy. That is probably all of the juicing that I have added into my diet. I am currently juicing 1 to 2 meals a day. I LOVE IT! I made one concoction that wasn’t so great, but it was drinkable. Detox symptoms are varied and there are many that you could experience. On a shorter fast such as a ten day fast I would say that you may get headaches that range from annoying to migraine. From my understanding you will still detox. It will be a much slower process because your body will continually have to stop and focus on digesting the bread and then go back to the detoxing. However, it can be done. Any detox is worth it in my opinion. Also as long as you are expending more energy than you are taking in you will lose weight, so that should not be an issue. When you start eating after a fast your metabolism will be extremely sluggish. To ”kickstart” your metabolism I suggest only eating until you have a feeling of not being hungry (not to be confused with full). You will not be able to eat much at all for awhile. Also excercising regularly after the fast will speed up your metabolism as well. In my experience you will be back to normal within a month. Ketosis is when your body does not have any more food to digest so it starts feeding on stored fats. It will also feed on dead cells and clean out your body so to speak. Hi Julie, When you fast you do continue to have your period. Some people actually have prolonged or heavier periods while fasting. I have heard a few people say that they had lighter periods, not often. Mine were the same flow, but a day or two longer than normal. I do have very short periods anyway though. I would suggest not taking the vitamins. It taxes your body to digest and assymilate them. You need all of your body focused on detoxing, that would just distract from it. Also my very first fast was a five day water fast. I thought about doing other things first, but this is what made the most sense to me. Hi all! Day eleven, I only have a few more days to go before I am half way done. I am in a groove now. I have a bit of heart burn. I drank about 7-8oz of the MC drink yesterday and I have left over energy from that. I think that is what I will do for the duration of my fast. My suggestion is no, because your body would then need to break down those vitamins to use them. By doing that you are waking your body up from the fast abruptly and making it go from a resting stage to a working stage. It slows down progress and cleansing. This however is just my suggestion. Not going to lecture, I promise. I am an ex smoker myself. 1. The idea of fasting is to detoxify your body, to become more healthy. So obviously that would negate that whole point. 2. You will get very light headed and nautious from smoking while fasting. Possibly worse. What day are you on? I would add some lemon and possible some pure maple syrup to your water if your heart keeps racing. Just to rejuvinate and then go back to your water. You shouldn’t have bowel movements if you are doing just a water fast. Nothing coming in nothing going out kinda thing. I thought I would tell everyone about my fast. I am doing a 30 day water fast, followed by a five day juice fast then two weeks with fruit and vegetables. I am on day three now. I have done long fasts before, but I have not had to cook dinner for someone else while doing my fast. Now that I have to, it is slightly more difficult. I am perfectly fine until I start cooking then all of my resolve just goes by the wayside. But I am still fasting. Normally you would not want to start eating immediatly after a fast. You need to give your digestion system time to get used to digesting foods again. My suggestion for the future is to start with broth for a day, then fruits, then vegetables, then after a few days start back on other foods. Never eat a large meal right after a fast, you will get very sick. Also, the symptoms you described are unfortunatly signs of major detoxing.
