Yes I have had extensive allergy tests done. I did not have any contact allergies besides benzyl peroxide. However with food I was highly reactive to tyramine which is found in aged and pickled foods(bananas too). I also was reactive to ibuprofen and a certain red dye.   [End]

What I meant by peeling lips if I was unclear was a constant cycle of skin build-up on the lips usually around 3 days- 1 week. I assure you that I have EC I was diagnosed at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Not to say that the doctors helped me at all, but I was diagnosed with it.   [End]

My theory on EC is that is not as rare as we think it is or the doctors claim it to be. I know of a student one grade older than me who I am sure had EC. Then another lady my dad knows had Ec for a while but she tried and gluten free diet and her lips look as normal as I can tell. There have been a few others I have come into contact with that have EC or something very similar. Anyways I believe this to be much more common then anyone claims it too be.   [End]

The test I took was MRT it tests how foods make the body react(inflammation). For school I used coconut oil and apply it 2x-3x a day (getting up and going to bed)works great. I was found to be highly reactive to tyramine which is found in anything aged. Beer, cheese, kefir, bananas(this is not aged but it has alot of tyramine in it)and numerous other drinks have all given me migraines and made my ec worse. Ulcers? Are you sure? No trying to sound like a jackass but if its ulcers then you need to stop the rub that you are using right now... It most likely is not ulcers because ulcers are more often found in the stomach lining or areas that are exposed to very acidic conditions. Healing I dont know your case but for most on the forum I would guess the problem is internal vs external because most people with EC tend to have it heal in 3-5 years. The body tends to sort these problems out or figure out they are not problems at all. You can boost your body’s healing through good diet and exercise... Sorry forgot who asked me how I got Ec but I got it last spring/summer. In the spring I licked my lips a little to much and began to use chapstick infrequently. When it first started it was not noticeable hardly at all. Longterm from what I understand about your situation is you have EC on your bottom lip, and you also have persistent welts that appear on your back. I think it would be wise for you to consider that the thing irritating the skin on your back will likely irritate your lips making it difficult for them to heal or reduce in size or peeling rate.   [End]

The doctors at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota have seen EC before in patients, and they believe EC to be psoriasis. The reason I agree with their findings is in my case and many others on the form the skin on the lips is normal for about 3-4 days then becomes dead and flakey. Psoriasis is a condition when the skin dies in cycles much faster than every 30 days, therefore it builds up and discolors. Another observation to support psoriasis as EC is all of the treatments beneficial to psoriasis like humidity, healthy eating and avoidance of chemicals all prove to be beneficial to EC. ...

Don’t know if this information will help anyone but I found through patch testing on my back(rather extensive) that I was allergic to cinnamon and benzol peroxide used in many facewashes and bleached flour, etc...
