This forum has been an interesting read. Oddly, I experienced sensitive teeth when I first started oil pulling. I did notice it when it happened but continued on pulling and it did go away. I love to oil pull but sadly I have not experienced some of the wonderfull effects you all talk about. Well goodness, this, like anything else, has so many twists and turns, that every answer brings forth another question. My son had a horrible accident, broke both sides of his jaw, one side pierced the ear as it broke, chipped both front teeth, got a gash under his chin that exposed bone and had 20 stitches on the outside and 5 on the inside, and a concussion with chances of brain damage. For the first time I clicked on the link that shows up every time a person types the word root canal here on this forum and it was very scary reading. My husband had a root canal and my 15 year old son had to have root canal done on his front two teeth after an accident breaking them off. Were you already oil pulling? Sometimes mouthsores are a result of oil pulling/toxins and go away with contined oil pulling. Coconut oil is very strong and can do this but it does usually go away. I would suggest sunflower for myself if I had a mouth sore.   [End]

I think its because its less taxing on your body. The oil pulling can work on toxins without having to deal with the food content. It doesnt hurt to do it if you have eaten but it works better and more easy if you have not eaten.   [End]

My experience is that 5 hours might be too long without eating and then doing the oil pull. I have to eat more frequently and smaller meals. Going that long without any food and then doing the oil pull gets the acid flowing with no buffer in your stomach. I would suggest not doing the oil pull if it has been that long without food. Yes, I had to go down to a teaspoon instead of a tablespoon at first. Molly, same here, morning I cough up was more mucus than evening. It also seemed with a tablespoon the amount would double and I couldnt hold it all in my mouth. I still can not hold a full tablespoon. Try putting a drop or 2 drops of peppermint oil into whatever oil you are pulling with, that stopped it for me. I find I am more toxic in the morning than the evening. I use to gag and almost throw up until I used the peppermint oil. Then eventually as I became less toxic it stopped and I stopped using the peppermint. Though I like the peppermint, its clean and breathy fresh. I still use it for that mint fresh taste sometimes.   [End]

The only headache I got was when I started using Coconut oil because it is so strong I believe I had toxic overload. Start with sunflower oil, its not as strong. You wont know until you try it but I doubt this kind of oil would cause the same kind of headache as oil on your face, but you will never know until you try it. good luck   [End]

I dont see how brushing or not brushing can be a make or break deal, but whatever works for each person, works. Sunflower is my favorite and works awesome for me. Coconut is my husbands favorite and my moms. Using coconut and only coconut has gotten rid or a tumor that was quite large in my moms throat, the doctor was even shocked. I started only once a day, in the morning but I don’t have KP. My husband DOES have KP and he went full steam ahead with twice a day, morning and night. He did not have any bad side affects and its been 2 months I think? I have been researching oregano oil lately and from everything I read the North American Herb & Spice brand Oil of Oreganol P73 is considered the best/purest. There are supposedly even studies done on it if you research it. You can find it many places for various prices. I bought the pills instead of the oil and put a pin drop in a pill, drop 1 drop in my husbands coconut oil for pulling then have him swallow the pill afterwards. Molly, how often do you use oregeno to pull with and why? Is it for specific reason, ie: need antibiotic or for another reason? I have my husband using the oregeno with VCO to pull every night, its been about 2 weeks, for reasons mentioned in my first post, ie: uvula grows/strep. I have done both but I didnt see a difference. Like I said at first I did it because I was gagging from all the toxins, in my opinion, because when I first started I could go a full 20 straight but then I switched to coconut and started gagging almost vomiting and had to spit and redo. My oil does not get thick it always gets thin, and foamy and more of it than I started with. I thought the reason for 20 min continuously was because it takes 20 min for all your blood to circulate throught and pass through that vain in your tongue, thereby all of it passing through the oil..at least that is what I read. I agree with your theory. If you pull for 10 minutes and imediately put more in and pull 10 more in, that is the same as doing a 20 minute session. That is exactly what I do, for a couple reasons. First being when I first started pulling I got sick and would gag it out and have to spit it out but I wanted to do a full 20 min cycle so would quickly put more in. Then after I got that under control using peppermint, I continued to spit after first 10 min and get more for the same reason you suggested... In my opinion it’s different for each person, and seems to be the more mucus one has, the more you spit. I don’t spit much at all, just spit out the oil then maybe one more time. My mom and husband spit more. I have a zapper, made like Dr. Clark specifies, and I’ll tell you, it sure does cause die off effects in me if I stop then start again.
