Novacaine is your regular anesthetic, the one you probably had been given many times before. The IV sedation on the other hand influences your brain and your short term memory. Hence, I’d rather avoid IV sedation, even though it seems to be rather popular among some dentists.
BTW, I did amalgam replacement with only novacaine. In one sitting we did four teeth on one side... and it all took some three hours or so, during which time I was just chilling under all that hardware (oxygen mask, overall cover, rubber dam, etc). [End]
