I need to share this in hopes it helps someone. We need to be our own best advocates because for some strange reason, doctors don't recognize this disease. So, first of all, stop banging your head on doctors doors looking for help, and educate yourself. And, don't be afraid to diagnose and treat yourself.
We know our bodies best. You can get so much information in here. You don't need diagnostic tests, all you need to do is answer the candida questionaire (there are many in here) on symptoms and lifestyle and you'll know if you have it or not.
Read all the books you can find on candida. My favorites are from Dr. Crook and Dr. Towbridge. You can get them on Amazon, very inexpensive.
Unfortunately, I had to use fluconazole and ketoconazole pills, some that I got in here and some from PA's (physician's assistants). The natural antifungals weren't doing a thing for me.
Psylium and Benonite (P&B) shakes worked wonders with die off. And so did drinking lemonade or unsweetened cranberry juice with stevia and lots of yogurt. Now I put psylium in what I'm drinking once a day but I don't need the benonite anymore.
The most important thing was to stay on the candida diet (two years for me) (see the diet in here) and I'm now able to eat some carbs.
Another very important thing that really helped me was getting mold and candida allergy shots. It helped my immune system get stronger.
Finally, I just started taking culturelle (from drug store) so I don't need to eat as much yogurt and it's been great.
I finally have my energy back and look and feel like a normal person!
Music is a great healer also.
It was good to have you here when I was so sick, stuck at home, wondering if I'd ever get well. Hang in there and you will get well too.
I bought a bunch of books to give to friends and doctors. Soon it will be common knowledge and treatment will be so much easier. I know how hard it is when you're so sick to find answers and to fight for yourself. I still get weird looks when I mention having had candidiasis. But at least I can say I HAD it.
What a very hard lesson to learn... Take very good care of yourself.
