Some things you need to decide for yourself like how long to fast the first time. How about 1 day? Then a couple of days later you could try 3 days. The site below has quotes on fasting from 17 MDs, mostly about detoxing but some spiritual. It is nice to see an MD talk about the spiritual benefits of a fast.

It also has info from a rabbi. Two thousand years ago, Jews (like Jesus) were experts on fasting. That is why the bible has 74 references to fasting. This site even tells you how President Lincoln promoted fasting in addition to freeing the slaves. See Lemonade Diet and Fasting. One MD says that fasting is profoundly simple and simply profound.
