Thought I would update you all my experience post removal. My Mirena has been gone for a little over 2 weeks (had it out 4/17-I had it for 3 1/2 years.) For the first 2 days I just had spotting, I had a bit more of a period on day 3 after removal. I felt great those 3 days, I had energy, no more backaches, no headaches, no depression, no sausea, no heart "flutters" or shortness of breath, no dizziness, no bloating, still had the Acne though. Day 4 and 5 (Saturday and Sunday) no period and slight depression. Day 5-7 I felt great again. Day 8 and 9 (last Wednesday and Thursday) mild headaches and depression, day 10 until now I have felt great again (outside a bout of a stomach virus.) My period started again yesterday and is going strong. I have had absolutely no bachaches since its removal, no dizziness, no nausea, no constipation. My husband said I look so much better, younger, more attractive, my skin color looks better-less grayish. I have no doubt that this IUD was "poisoning" me. I waited a little while before calling the manufacture -Berlex/Bayer Corporation- to monitor if these side effects have indeed decreased or were gone. I just got off the phone with them and reported how I have been feeling while on the Mirena and the difference since it has been removed. They were really nice, listened to everything I said, and took me seriously (which seems doctors are not willing to do.) All calls they get on this are reported to the FDA. To help other women out there -- please call them to report your side effects, they will report it to the FDA. The more of us who call, maybe that will make a difference to women who plan on getting this.
I called 1-888-842-2937, option 4 (I think their options changed from the last posting of this number.)
Thank you all for posting-I never realized how much this thing was affecting me until recently and by reading all your posts. Good luck to you all who are still having problems. I will continue to update on my progress of hormone free life as well.
