heads typically will have a "scolex" attached at the end with a circular row of teeth with which that attach to their host. Without removing this entire peace you are destined to regrow the entire worm. From my humble understanding you may have a fully gravid (pregnant) tape worm segment. These secrete thousands of eggs a day. So, must def better out than in. The differ from the typical image of the "flat muitisegmented tapeworm" in that they take on a more circualr shape to accomadate the eggs within.
