If you need it and it's regular for you, that's what you need. I sleep from 10:30 PM to 6:30 AM each day and I love it, I feel rested, and most notably, this is very regular for me and I'd do it without an alarm clock.
Re: slow metabolism - you have to eat a whole lot less to slow your metabolism down, like fasting. If you're consuming 1500 calories a day, you're totally fine.
